Internet users are outraged that Messi, the dog featured in the film “Anatomy of a Fall,” will not be present at the 2024 Oscars ceremony.

According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, an anonymous source revealed that Messi stole the show during his appearance at the annual pre-Oscar nominees’ luncheon in February, and some companies with their own nominees were not pleased with his presence there.

According to the source, some of these unnamed companies complained to the Academy that Messi’s appearance gave an advantage to “Anatomy of a Fall” in the Oscar race, as the luncheon took place during the voting period.

Messi himself was not nominated for the award, but “Anatomy of a Fall” received multiple nominations, including Sandra Hüller for Best Actress, Justine Triet for Direction, and, of course, for the Best Picture award.

The French film follows the character of Hüller, Sandra Voyter, as she tries to prove that she did not murder her husband after he fell from a window. Messi plays Snoop, Voyter’s son’s guide dog.
